Simple sound editing

I'm hoping somone can suggest a good, cheap (even free) software. I know a guy who plays drums in a band. Someone recorded some footage of a show using a camcorder. His bass drum was a bit too loud for the recording and creates distortion in the recording. We would like to run those video files through a software which would allow us to slightly decrease that specific portion of the audio (the bass drum).

I'm not too familiar with audio resampling so it needs to be a simple software to use and I'm really not interested in spend much or any money on it. Just hoping there is something simple we could use for this one job.

This is on DVD though, so the software needs to support VOB files. Even if the resulting file is not VOB, that's ok.

Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

If there is just one or two audio tracks, no software today will target "just the drum". For now, there is no such software that does this.

Thanks Bob. The drum is not on its own track, no. Its just a straight live recording in a club, using a camcorder. Well, that's ok then. i appreciate the response. I won't continuing looking for one! happy
