Dell Inspiron 6000 Wireless non-functional?

I own a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection, and I recently got the drivers re-installed from Dell's website, here; Drivers & Downloads. After doing this, everything seemed to be back to normal, but now when I try to connect to the internet, it will say that it is Acquiring the Network Address, or something similar to that. I get no errors from the wireless software Control Panel, it just keeps saying that, as well as the Windows Wireless Control Panel. WZC is on, everything is on. I have no idea what is wrong, and I know it is possible to have this PC wireless networked, as I did it at one point. I really need a solution, I personally, am stumped, and am very good with computers myself. Any help is appreciated, and I know many users that would be able to figure this out.

Try more recent drivers from Intel website (Dell offers 11.1 while Intel has 12.4 to download) and while installing do not install ProSet utility- let Windows manage the connection.

Thanks for the post, downloading the software, hoping this provides a quick fix. I really hate Windows.

The software updated, but the connection is still not functional. I think it is something with my Wireless. It has no security or password, and the 12.4.4 drivers just keep saying 'The computer cannot connect to this default SSID network,' and when I follow the recommended steps it just says how to disable the message that comes up when there is a problem. How do I configure the wireless network to reconnect with the computer?
